The scholarship applications for students graduating in 2028 will be open February 1st, 2027 - February 28th, 2027 (11:59pm).

Our scholarship process

The Lamp of Learning Scholarship is open to all high school juniors in San Diego County. Yes, you apply as a JUNIOR for a scholarship. The process begins with an online application (link below). Applications are thoroughly reviewed, and semi-finalists are selected to proceed to the next stage.

Semi-finalists will be notified via email around the last week of March and will be invited to schedule in-person interviews at the University Club in downtown San Diego, taking place in April. Further details about subsequent steps will be provided during these interviews.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on several criteria, including family income, GPA, first-generation college status, leadership qualities, and educational aspirations.

Scholarship award amounts and the number of recipients may vary annually based on available funding and program priorities. Recipients must enroll full-time at an accredited four-year university in the United States following high school graduation.

Application questions and requirements may be updated each scholarship cycle to best reflect the goals and values of the program.
