Our scholarship process

The Lamp of Learning Scholarship is open to all high school juniors in San Diego County. Yes, you apply as a JUNIOR for a scholarship. The process begins with an online application (link below). Applications are thoroughly reviewed, and semi-finalists are selected to proceed to the next stage.

Semi-finalists will be notified via email around the last week of March and will be invited to schedule in-person interviews at the University Club in downtown San Diego, taking place in April. Further details about subsequent steps will be provided during these interviews.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on several criteria, including family income, GPA, first-generation college status, leadership qualities, and educational aspirations.

Each scholarship is a $5,000 award, and recipients must enroll directly into a four-year university in the United States after graduating high school.
