Another Year for the Books.

On June 30, 2017 we ended a good year for the Lamp of Learning!  Our student scholars remain top of their class in high school and are making the most of the opportunities they are being offered. Most are the first person in their family to attend college and are extremely grateful to be given the change to pursue an education.   I’m pleased to announce that two of our alumni have chosen to pursue graduate degrees in Business and Chemical Engineering. We are very proud to have been part of their education!

Our focus on marketing paid off in increased attendance at our two events:

· Meet the students breakfast in December

· Scholarship Awards Reception in June

A larger percent of the University Club members have heard of the Lamp of Learning but the majority still seem to think that we are funded by the club rather than individuals.  This challenge remains and we are addressing that through active participation in the new member luncheons and receptions.

As we look forward to FY17, we will add steam to the marketing with new video content as well as a more active presence on social media.  We are also looking into bringing educational programs to the University Club such as meet-the-author events.
