Ambition: Eradicate discrimination, find solutions to social problems, and raise equality for immigrants and women.

“This longing to see equality and acceptance of diversity has inspired me to represent minority groups and be their voice.”

Future plans: Study political science at UCLA

Inspiration: Encouraging others to maintain their “childhood wonder,” to remain forever curious and to always ask “Why?”

Ambition: Breakdown patriarchal norms and traditional views of women’s roles in the home and society, and end domestic violence.

“Kids show awe in what is around them … but it seems that as people grow older they are so adamant to discard their childhood selves that they forget to treasure the best of their qualities.”

Future plans: Study clinical psychology at UCLA.

Inspiration: One freshman teacher transformed Beatriz’s life with a high-five, a phone call to her parents, and a genuine interest in her education and well-being.

Ambition: A passion to heal others is balanced with a love of the arts and to “keep creating.”

“My ultimate goal is to help people smile more in life, in person, or through my art.”

Future plans: Receive a degree in nursing and then study art at SDSU

Inspiration: "Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars."

Ambition: Founding an educational nonprofit focused on STEM for young girls to pursue careers in science. Thinks education is the foundation for a better future.

“As a member of the international community, I always believe it is an unspoken duty that we must help others.”

Future plans: Study chemistry at UCSD.

Inspiration: Tutoring and mentoring middle school students.

Ambition: Advocating for foster children and helping them achieve life goals.

Future plans: Study mechanical engineering at SDSU
